You’re working exceptionally hard, as you always have, to show your superiors that you have the drive, the know-how, and the stamina to do the gig and to do it well. You’re leaning in so hard that you nearly trip over your newly minted shoes, fall down, and lose yourself in the process to impress a boss. Someone with clout, influence, and honestly, a dash of intimidation. Not only did that boss encourage you, but maybe she actually promised you something really great if you deliver the goods.

So, you do your part. You do the thing. You discover the talent and find the musical act that’s gonna significantly change both yours and your boss’ lives. You delivered the promise. Now, perhaps a well-deserved promotion, a raise, or maybe even a corner office?

Instead, you unexpectedly face the music that you didn’t deserve. When it’s time for your boss to deliver, you get nothing. Nada. Zero. Zilch. Radio silence. When you inquire, you’re faced with crickets. So many crickets. What promises? It’s not in writing, so…too bad, so sad?
