Demand for Made in USA Rises Says Alibaba Report

Made In the USA is still popular says a recent study from Alibaba, according to their 2021 year in review and 2022 outlook report.

According to their press release, the company’s just-released report, 2021 in Review and 2022 Outlook, shows demand for “Made in the USA” products between January and December 2021 was driven by the following categories*:

1) Food & Beverage; 2) Agriculture; 3) Beauty and Personal Care; 4) Health and Medical; 5) Consumer Electronics

This special, year-in-review edition of Alibaba.com’s B2B Pulse shares proprietary insights into demand trends based on the activity of more than 200,000 sellers and over 20 million buyers on the platform, yearlong macro-trends that have impacted small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the U.S., as well as the outlook for 2022.

After a bumpy year of recovery challenged by supply chain issues and inflation, U.S. entrepreneurs enter 2022 cautiously optimistic about the future of their business while the number of new entrepreneurs entering the marketplace continues to proliferate. Millions of new companies started in 2020 and 2021, and the new “Entrepreneur Economy” is only expected to grow as the barrier to entry for starting a company lowers and more of the economy moves online.

As small businesses in the U.S. and around the world push to digitize to meet pandemic-era demand, top global growth categories** on Alibaba.com in 2021 include:

1) Gifts & Crafts 2) Apparel 3) Shoes & Accessories 4) Beauty & Personal Care 5) Sports & Entertainment

What does this mean for your business?

Although overseas manufacturing MIGHT be cheaper in some cases, MADE in the USA is still popular. Why?

Many people trust that American manufacturers, based in part on our laws and regulations, have better quality products.

Could it be that what America represents is also still important – that flag of freedom?
