Podcasting is an important part of getting the word out about your business and building authority. Here’s a discussion with the CEO of Podcast Town about podcasting and much more.
Elzie Flenard is the CEO of Podcast Town and he was recently interviewed by Ramon about why business leaders should be podcasting, and all the ins and outs of getting in the audio game.
Elzie has his roots in the corporate world, but came to realize that continuing his passion for podcasting simply as a side hustle wasn’t going to cut it. He needed more. Elzie decided to take the leap and become a full time entrepreneur running Podcast Town, a company that provides a white-glove podcasting services to help you grow your business and attract quality clients.
Why should you get into the podcast world? Here are some of Elzie’s tips and ideas on how to become a successful entrepreneur and what podcasting can do for your business.
Adopt a CEO mindset
It can be difficult to transition from being someone’s full time employee, to running the show yourself. Elzie says, for him, it was important to focus on adopting a CEO mindset. Listen to other successful entrepreneurs and heed their advice. Learn how to open your mindset, approach problems and leverage knowledge in ways that identify you as a leader. Read informative books like Michael Gerber’s and gain from other’s experiences.
Most of all, don’t spend all your time in the planning phase. Make sure you execute your ideas.

Fire Yourself
Elzie says he’s fired himself multiple times! By this he means he passed some responsibilities to others. There comes a time when, even if you work 24 hours a day, you can’t get it all done on your own. Learn to fire yourself and step back, adjusting your role as your business grows, and to allow your business to grow.
Invest in podcasting in a way that suits you (hobby vs pro)
It’s a fact: not everyone should be hosting their own podcast. Some people have more talent in this area than others. Engaging with the podcast world can really boost your business but there are many ways to do it. You may be a host of your own show, or be interviewed about your business on other people’s shows. Or, you may simply promote your business by advertising on other people’s podcasts. All approaches are valid.
And if you are going to host your own show, know that it’s OK to be a hobbyist. Invest in your equipment in a way that reflects your level of engagement and commitment to podcasting.
Focus on great content
The most important thing, as always, is to focus on creating great content. You don’t need a huge audience, just one filled with the right people. Think of what value you can bring to your audience, and create content with them in mind. What do people want to listen to?
Engage with specialists
Last but not least, if you’re going to outsource some of your business, it can be best to avoid those who offer all-in-one services. Go for specialists. Hire an agency to do one specific job well and get it done right.
Podcast Town aims to educate new and existing business owners about the world of podcasting and to assist entrepreneurs in the area of personal branding. They are also there to motivate, encourage growth, transform mindsets, and inspire entrepreneurs to greatness.
