Are you overwhelmed with tasks? Are you looking for ways to be more productive? If your answer to these questions is YES, then you are at the right place.

Recently Ramon Ray interviewed Terri Lomax Burden, customer success manager at Asana. During the interview, they talked about being overwhelmed and how to manage tasks better to be more productive.

Journey from Unknown to Becoming a Smart Hustler

Terri’s story from unknown to becoming a smart hustler is quite inspiring. Even before graduating from high school, she lived in 14 different homes, including a shelter and hotel.

However, the struggle and hardship she faced didn’t stop her from becoming a globally recognized podcaster.

be more productive

She is working as a customer success manager at Asana and is a smart hustler in the real sense. And she founded Mocha Girls Pit Stop Blog, started The H.E.R Space Podcast, and wrote an inspiring book.

Terri is also active in the personal branding space and helps businesses take their brands to the next level.

What You Can Learn from Terri Lomax to Be More Productive

In her interview, she shared how she successfully juggled multiple things strategically to achieve what she wanted to achieve.

Here are the top three tips from the interview to be more productive:

1- Brain Dump to Sort out Your Goals

Small business owners often brim with tons of ideas to grow their businesses. Of course, all of your ideas can have the potential to become significant.

But the reality is,

You cannot focus on all that enters your mind at a time, can you?”

You have limited hours in a day, and you should accept it. If you try to achieve multiple things simultaneously without proper planning, you are likely to reach the point of burnout.

So you should note down your ideas and make a list of ideas you’re going to implement in the next few days/months/years.

Once you have implemented those ideas, you can focus on other ones. This will help you sort out your life.

Terri says,

Many of us speaking for myself are overthinkers; we have so many ideas, so many thoughts. I like to do a brain dump. Dump everything out on the paper, no judgment, you know, no restrictions. All the goals that we want to accomplish and then get focused on.

2- Optimize Your Life for the Season

Terri was successful in doing a weekly podcast, writing the book, doing the regular job, and running her blog simultaneously because she planned her life that way.

Once you made a list of ideas/tasks/projects, the next step is to optimize your life to achieve those goals. This simply means you should make a change in your working schedule to achieve your goals.

Terri states,

So writing a book, having a weekly podcast doing all these things, and folks are often like how do you do all these things? And I’m like, Well, I know what I’m optimizing for, for which Season in my life.

3- Adopt Technology

Being an old school has a charm, but integrating the latest tools into your workspace can boost productivity.

Terri uses Asana to organize her personal and professional life, and she leverages it to achieve multiple objectives.

I would say that Asana is definitely useful for me because now instead of, or in addition to having goals written down on paper, I can also have this backup system so that when I’m on the go, I can pull up the mobile app, I can complete tasks, right, I use it for groceries, I can complete tasks as I’m in the grocery store.

Find tools that can help you better manage tasks, improve team communication, and amplify marketing efforts. Using the right tools will save you time and help you complete the tasks more efficiently.
