Tell me a little bit about your background and how you ended up choosing your field.
I am a Business and Mindset Coach. Growing up, I have always had a dream to start a business and help persons heal their past wounds and go after their dreams. I didn’t just want to coach, I also wanted to be a speaker and author. But when I looked at my life, growing up in a low income family and living in an environment where everyone was basically struggling just to survive, no one in my family were doing anything worthy of talking about, and when I looked at my personal story, story of rejection, feeling unloved, dealing with self-hate, I felt unworthy, broken, not good enough, defective. I thought no one would want to hear what I had to say, be interested in working with me and I was good enough to do what I really wanted.
Now I help successful career professionals and coaches to stop feeling unworthy & not good enough to reclaim their lost dreams, passion and purpose so they can build the business & life that they have always wanted and is aligned to who they are. Because that is my story. That is where I was.
What made you take the leap into entrepreneurship?
I have always loved entrepreneurship, even when I was a child, I was selling mangoes at school and so on. It gives me the freedom to create something beautiful and to make a big impact in the world
What were the biggest initial hurdles you faced and how did you overcome them?
I would say the biggest hurdles I faced when I was starting out, and even when I was a few years in, the number one would be myself. People don’t really have a business problem, they have a personal problem. I just stop getting in my own way and I did that by looking at the patterns in my life, and healing my childhood wounds. This is part of what I now help my clients to do, get out of their own way. The second was money. The money to invest in coaching, tools and things I needed. What I did was I took a job as an assistant to a coach and helped him to grow his business so I could fund my dream
What are 3 tips you can share with our readers as it relates to your industry?
My 3 tips or word of wisdom I would give to your readers are:
1. Define what success looks like for you, not what it looks like for your parents, teachers or someone else. Many people are busy living someone else life, living someone else version of success for them, doing what they think they should be doing, instead of saying “this is what I want to do. This is what I am passionate about doing and talking about. This is what I am going to do”.
2. Let purpose fuel you. Let purpose directs your steps. When you stop looking at what everyone else is doing and start asking yourself ‘what is my path to success? What is it I want to do? How do I want to work and create success?’ then we will stop feeling overwhelmed, and jumping from one thing to the next. To know what you are called to do, don’t look at what’s around you, look towards God and at what your heart is telling you to do.
3. Just get to worthiness. If you can just feel worthy and good enough you will create the success and life you want
How do you personally define success? What does it mean to you?
For me, success is no longer about how much money I have, what I accomplish, success for me is waking up every day and doing what I was called to do. Living my life purpose. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what you do or how much money you have in the bank, if what you don’t fulfill you and is not purposeful work, then you have failed
